Enjoying the long summer evening with a fresh beer in your hand - that's the way to live. Last summer, this was even possible with above-average frequency, as Switzerland recorded the third hottest summer since measurements began.
The Swiss Brewers Association has compared weather data with monthly beer sales. The conclusion: nice and warm weather does indeed have a positive effect on beer sales. Swiss beer accounted for a 77.8% share of the beer market in the 2018/2019 brewing year. This corresponds to an increase of 2.3%. In the same period, imports of foreign beers fell by -3.5%. Non-alcoholic beers also increased particularly strongly, recording growth of 7.4%.
