Appenzeller plans plant expansion

Every year, around 25,000 visitors come to see the Appenzeller Alpenbitter production facility. The high number of visitors is one of the reasons for the planned expansion of the plant.
Wooden façade and construction: the planned new building viewed from the railway viaduct.

Visitors, trucks and residents cross paths in front of the main entrance, and now these traffic flows are to be disentangled.

An extension is planned on the east side, between the existing production halls and the Appenzeller Bahnen viaduct, which is protected as a cultural object. A new access road for logistics is planned from this side, directly to the planned extension.

The centrepiece of the project is a hall with a gable roof, connected to the existing buildings, some of which are being raised. Thanks to stepped roofs, the extension is more than just a simple industrial building. The hall is a wooden construction, the façade made of large wooden shingles provides a typical local appearance.

Construction of the project is scheduled to start at the end of 2021.
