The Micil Distillery has been run within the family for over 170 years, currently by the brothers Pádraic and Jimín in the 6th generation. The name of the distillery was chosen in honor of their great-great-great-grandfather Micil Mac Chearra, who began distilling Poitín in 1848. Micil Irish Cream Liqueur is a West of Ireland version of the classic and is made from Connemara Poitín, local honey, chocolate, coffee and Irish cream according to the grandmother's original family recipe.
