Since 2010, the Annual Brands Report has been publishing its data show on the purchasing habits and favorite brands of bars. The publishing house Drinks International obtains the data for this from 100 selected best bars from a total of 38 countries around the world.
Europe accounts for 37% of the sample, which is probably due to the strong bar scenes in many developed drinks markets. For example, the 50 Best 2023 bars Cambridge Public House, Line, Salmon Guru and Himkok took part. Asia accounts for 17 percent of the world's best bars from eight countries. The North American share shrank to 18 percent this year, with the USA continuing to lead the way, along with significant entries from Mexico and Canada. The largest increase in representatives came from South America, which more than doubled compared to last year and now accounts for 17% of participants from seven countries. Argentina and Peru made the largest contribution with bars such as Tres Monos and Carnaval. Among the bars from Africa and the Middle East, 6 percent were from South Africa, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates, while Australasia was represented by 5 percent.
Michter's ousts Tanqueray from 1st place
Over the years, many of the same names have reappeared, with Tanqueray taking the top spot in exactly half of the last 14 editions of the Brand Report. In 2024, however, American whiskey brand Michter's topped the poll, voted in the top three by almost 10 percent of voters. Since the brand was revived by Joseph J. Magliocco in the mid-1990s, its involvement in the industry has been evident. Tanqueray therefore falls back to second place. Diageo's famous green bottle has been on the winner's podium every year since 2013, making it the most successful brand in the history of this report. The fact that the top four brands all return from 2023 underlines the loyalty of Barkeeper. American Whiskey Bestselling Brands include Maker's Mark, Bulleit and Michter's, to name just the top three mentions here from the report. The first three top trending American whiskey brands are Michter's, Maker's Mark and Bulleit.
