Rugenbräu AG was founded in 1866 and has been owned by the Hofweber family since 1892. Over five generations, the family has shaped the company and made it a fixture in the Bernese Oberland and the Bern region. The Board of Directors of J. Hofweber & Cie. AG, owner of Rugenbräu AG, initiated and closely supervised the succession process. With the support of Bernard Fuhrer and Dominique Gottret, Rugenbräu AG will continue to be run by its experienced management team—Remo Kobluk and Christian Schneiter—who have shaped and successfully developed the company over many years. As the owner of Brauerei Felsenau AG, Bernard Fuhrer also aims to further strengthen the long-standing cooperation between the two breweries. The brewery location in Matten near Interlaken will remain unchanged.
This will secure jobs, production, and local value creation. The company also owns the Rugen Distillery and Gnuss-Wält, which shape the world of experiences and enjoyment at the Matten site. This succession solution continues the 160-year history of Rugenbräu AG in the spirit of its founders.
