10 Questions for Justin Andrew Ebert

After his training as a hotel manager and various stations in Bern (Department 66), Colorado and Utah, he has been bar manager and co-owner of On the Rocks Bar (formerly Rocks Bar) in Wengen since October 2021.

Born in Heilbronn (DE), Justin Andrew Ebert spent his early years in the Bernese Oberland. At the age of five, he moved back to Germany, where he completed his schooling. In order to be able to initially finance a season ticket and life in the mountains, he started his first seasonal job as a service employee at the age of 18, before subsequently completing his first winter season as a bar employee at Rocks Bar Wengen.

1. why did you become Barkeeper ?
It's the ideal job to meet a wide variety of people, to live out your creativity and to work in extraordinary places. After a few years on the job and training in the hotel business, the bar and food & beverage division then crystallized into my personal favorite, as I also enjoy eating and drinking well in my private life.

2. three qualities to describe you:
Optimistic, empathetic, living in the moment.

Do you have a morning routine, and what does it look like?
Mixing a smoothie, a double espresso and checking news and social media for about 15 minutes.

4. what drink or beverage would you serve your parents?
A small wine tasting of our open wines.

5. the most unusual cocktail you've ever mixed?
The most painful thing for me was making Spicy Margaritas with Tequila Clase Azul Reposado. The guests enjoyed it, of course.

6. unpleasant guests are...
part of the business and unavoidable. In my experience, I have learned that the more unpleasant the guests, the more it helps to cajole them and turn the tables to the positive.

7. hand on heart: What do you drink at the end of the day?
Beer! Lager or wheat beer.

8. how do you like to spend your free time?
Hiking and discovering the Swiss mountains in summer, skiing in winter and going out for a good meal on free evenings.

9. your life without social media would be...
Certainly feasible, but more time-consuming to keep in touch with your circle of friends and acquaintances.

10. the last 100 francs and only 24 hours left...
My family and my girlfriend, have around me and cook for the 100 francs as high quality as possible for everyone something good.
