Due to coronavirus

ProWein Düsseldorf cancelled for 2020

Due to the increasing number of coronavirus infections, Messe Düsseldorf GmbH decided not to hold ProWein in 2020. The fair was postponed by one year.

ProWein 2020 will be postponed due to the effects of the Coronavirus/Covid-19. The 2021 fair will take place from Sunday, 21 March to Tuesday, 23 March 2021.

"We made this decision in intensive dialogue with our partner associations and key players in the industry. The particular challenge here was that only a very narrow trade fair time window is possible for the wine industry - which is further reduced in view of the uncertain situation caused by the Corona virus," says Erhard Wienkamp, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH.

"Against this background, this decision is the only correct consequence - entirely in the sense of the wine and spirits industry," Erhard Wienkamp concludes.

Decision is welcomed

The German Wine Institute, the conceptual sponsor of ProWein, is fully behind the decision. "We expressly welcome the fact that Messe Düsseldorf has the courage to take this step, which is entirely in the interests of the wine industry. In our opinion, ProWein has reacted prudently, prudently and correctly, weighing up all the pros and cons," says Monika Reule, managing director of the DWI.

Existing contracts between Messe Düsseldorf and exhibitors remain valid for the alternative date. The same applies to visitor tickets already purchased.
