Since 2010, the Annual Brands Report has been publishing its data show on the buying habits and favorite brands of bars. The publisher Drinks International obtains the data for this from 100 selected best bars from a total of 33 countries around the world. Europe accounts for 34 percent of the sample, which is probably due to the dense concentration of bars such as Baba Au Rum, Himkok, and Red Frog, which have been highly praised by trade magazines and industry institutions.
Asian bars, which make up 22 percent of the sample, are found in Singapore, South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, India and China. Australia and New Zealand total seven percent. Africa and the Middle East are also represented at seven percent with Israel, South Africa and the Arab Emirates.
From South America (6 percent), bars in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia were asked about their buying habits and trend assessments. North American bars participating this year are from Canada, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico and the U.S. states, with an order of magnitude within the selection sample of 24 percent.
Gin has the nose in front
Considered the favorite spirit of all bartenders is a busy, good old boy at the international bars of the world. A genuine London make is at the top of the bartenders' favorites. It's Tanqueray Gin, considered the favorite spirit by 19 percent of all 100 bars surveyed in more than 20 categories. Michter's bourbon ranks second, closely followed by Ocho tequila.
Probably thanks to Gin & Tonic, gin is the world's most popular spirit, but according to the Drinks International Annual Brands Report, it also plays a major role in 50 of the best-selling classic cocktails. Gin's Bestselling Brands include Tanqueray, Beefeater, Hendrick's, to name just the top three in each case and following here from the report. The first three top trending gin brands are Monkey 47, Roku and Hendrick's.
