Online, with over 100 participants

Agroscope Distillery Conference

Agroscope, in collaboration with the Federal Customs Administration (FCA) and the industry association "The Swiss Distillers", held an information conference for the distillery industry on 4 February.

As a result of Covid-19, the conference, chaired by Sonia Petignat, was held online via video conference for the first time. More than 100 participants from Switzerland and the Benelux countries listened intently as Willy Kessler from Agroscope opened the conference.

Afterwards, DistiSuisse President Max Kopp gave an overview of innovations and the procedure for this year's award. Jonas Inderbitzin (Agroscope) then introduced the basics of sensory analysis and Daniel Z'graggen showed the influence of different acids on the aroma development of Williams and explained the new gin aroma wheel.

David Speich (FCA) provided information about the Spirits Section at the Federal Customs Administration. After the lunch break, two more very interesting presentations were on the agenda.

At "Grappa in Robinia Wood", held by Mark Bertogliati, among other things, previously delivered grappas were tasted. The presentation "Wooden barrels are our life", led by Roland Suppiger from the Suppiger cooperage of the same name, rounded off a very successful distillery conference with a lot of knowledge transfer and exciting topics.
