The Swiss rum classic with Jamaican roots is launching a Millennium Edition with two limited single cask bottlings for the year-end business.
Both rums, distilled in 2000, were initially stored in oak barrels in Jamaica for over 18 years before they reached their perfection in two different sherry casks from the house of Gonzalez Byass after their arrival in Basel.
While the full-bodied Vintage 2000 Matusalem Oloroso at 46.2% by volume delights the palate with rich notes of vanilla, warm spices, dates and dried fruit, the Vintage 2000 PX , matured in Pedro Ximenez casks, remains a quintessential unruly Jamaican at heart at 50.6% by volume, combining the subtle sultana and wood tones with leather, tropical fruit and a smart peppery spiciness.
Both rums were bottled as the cask gods created them to offer the connoisseur the highest possible degree of purist enjoyment. The bottlings are intended exclusively for the specialist spirits trade and gastronomy.
