This growth reflects the confidence of Swiss consumers in the quality and variety of champagne and represents an increase in sales on the Swiss market of + 15.7 percent compared to 2021, reaching 145.3 million euros. Total shipments of champagne (worldwide) in 2022 amount to 325.5 million bottles, an increase of 1.5 percent compared to 2021. After a good year in 2021, these results confirm the general dynamism of the champagne market, both in terms of volume and value. Thus, the total value of shipments will exceed six billion euros for the first time.

Switzerland takes 8th place in the world ranking of champagne exports
The podium of champagne importing countries is occupied by the USA, the UK and Japan. According to the new figures, Switzerland retains its place as the eighth largest importer of champagne wine in the world, just behind Belgium. While the Swiss market is relatively small, continued demand from Swiss consumers for premium Champagne makes Switzerland an important market for Champagne winemakers. For this reason, they keep a close eye on the development of trends in the Swiss market. Champagne producers are working closely with their Swiss partners to meet the expectations of local consumers and export high-quality Champagne to Switzerland. "We are very pleased with the results for the Swiss market. The growth of Champagne sales in Switzerland is tangible proof of the attractiveness of this renowned wine region with its unique know-how," says Virginie Bonjour, director of the Bureau Champagne Suisse.
