Coca-Cola replaces film in multipacks

Cardboard instead of plastic

Beverage cans are traditionally bound into multipacks with plastic film. Starting this year, Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland is using cardboard instead of plastic. This will save 95 tonnes of packaging film per year.

KeelClip™ is a new type of packaging solution used for beverage cans. The handy cardboard solution is fully recyclable. The new packaging saves Coca-Cola HBC in Switzerland 95 tonnes of plastic per year.

The overall ecological balance of the solution is also convincing: with the new cardboard packaging, CO2 emissions are reduced by around 50% compared to the previous plastic solution.

On the shelf since January 2021

Following the launch in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Austria, Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland is one of the first European markets to introduce the innovative carton packaging.

The 330-millilitre Coca-Cola multipacks (Original and Zero) with the new packaging concept are available at leading retailers, Qwell and numerous customers throughout Switzerland.
