2020

BAR NEWS celebrates its 25th anniversary. The Corona pandemic presents the company with numerous challenges. BAR NEWS GmbH is founded. The relaunch of the print magazine is followed in autumn by a completely revamped website for barnews.ch.

2019

The course is set for the future of BAR NEWS. The trade magazine and the SWISS BAR AWARDS will be completely redesigned for the anniversary year 2020. Long-standing partners will learn about the plans first-hand at a partner event on the Bürgenstock.

2018

BAR NEWS is celebrating the 100th issue of the Swiss trade magazine. On the occasion of this anniversary, an anniversary brochure is being produced in which, among other things, well-known faces of the Swiss bar scene are portrayed.

2017

A small jubilee: The most prestigious awards in the Swiss bar scene - the SWISS BAR AWARDS - were presented for the 15th time.
The BAR NEWS Academy successfully organised the first bar course. For the first time, 600 pages of BAR NEWS were produced this year. BAR NEWS is actively published on Facebook.

2016

BAR NEWS becomes a sponsoring partner of the bvr professional association of the Hotel and Gastro Union.

2015

BAR NEWS celebrates its 20th anniversary with a great gala night at the Hotel Schweizerhof in Lucerne. AnniversaryBarkeeper competition on the Stanserhorn. BAR NEWS publishes the magazine for the largest Swiss schnapps award DistiSuisse for the first time.

2014

New online presence for barnews.ch. This online platform has been very actively used since 2014.

2013

A small anniversary: The 75th issue of BAR NEWS was made available to the bar scene. Publication of the first bar mix booklet with 122 attractive recipes of classic cocktails, but also of attractive winning drinks from various competitions.

2012

Organisation of a BAR NEWS readers' trip to the Val des Travers to follow the trail of absinthe. Together with Red Bull, an exciting competition was organised under the title Racing Blender in conjunction with a go-kart race. The 1st Swiss Nullpromille Trophy was launched by BAR NEWS. Announcement of the first Monin Cup.

2011

BAR NEWS published the Swiss Barguide for the first time. It presents the best 101 bars in Switzerland.

2010

Once again this year, SWISS BAR WORLD was the meeting place for the Swiss bar scene. In addition, numerous competitions and workshops were held.

2009

The total volume was already almost 500 pages. SWISS BAR WORLD was successfully held for the first time. A unique meeting of the entire industry. Over two days, more than 1,000 bar professionals met in an old industrial hall in Winterthur to exchange and share knowledge with 26 exhibitors, over 40 fringe events and 30 speakers from seven nations.

2008

This year we celebrated the 50th issue of BAR NEWS. First reportage of an international bar tour. Bacardi organises the first Bacardi Mojito Adventure Race. Organisation of the first BIG FIVE Gastro Cup, together with Red Bull Switzerland. BAR NEWS announces the workshop series "Molecular Cocktails", in which more than 200 Barkeeper have participated within two years. Havana Club announces the first Flairtending Competition together with BAR NEWS.

2007

BAR NEWS organised a readers' trip to the Barkeeper World Championships in Taiwan, including a side trip to Hong Kong. 16 participants experienced an attractive 10 days. The Ramazzotti Competition was held for the second time.

2006

The SWISS BAR AWARDS were held in a public setting under the title BAR NEWS PARTY NIGHT at Club Bolero in Winterthur. For the first time, a reportage was prepared under the title "Bartour .....". The competition with Caffe Latte and Diageo was certainly unique. The reigning motorbike world champion Tom Lüthiwas there.

2005

10 years after its foundation, it was decided to produce 5 issues of BAR NEWS per year for the Swiss bar scene. The column "Apérotime with..." was launched for the first time. The first guest at that time was the well-known TV presenter Kurt Aeschbacher. BAR NEWS publishes for the first time the brochure "Bar Beverage Offer", a reference work for products of the bar scene.

2003

This year, the four issues of BAR NEWS already comprised 254 pages on topics such as knowledge transfer, stories, product presentations and numerous competitions. For the first time the SWISS BAR AWARDS competitions were announced. At that time, there was only one category.

2001

For the first time, four issues of BAR NEWS were produced per year. The first Trojka Shot Competition was held. Together with Campari, a readers' trip to the Formula 1 GP Monza was announced.

2000

In addition to a lot of knowledge transfer, the Grand Marnier Trophy was organised for the first time together with Haecky AG. 30 participants took part in a trip to the Champagne region together with the champagne house Laurent Perrier. The Seagram Day was organised for the first time with Pierre Stoessel.

1999

The three issues of BAR NEWS already totalled 96 pages. Together with Dettling & Marmot, a show-mix course with almost thirty participants was held at the Hotel Victoria Jungfrau. The competitions Challenge Marie Brizard and Bacardi Martini Grand Prix were co-organised.

1998

BAR NEWS was present at the opening of the Fassbind Visitor Centre. Kirsch seminars were advertised together with the Swiss Fruit Association. A show mix course was held in Gstaad together with Bols-Cynar-Ballantines. BAR NEWS organised the 70th anniversary of the SBU.

1997

Three editions were produced. In cooperation with the beverage industry, numerous competitions were announced and realised. For example, a Pisco Lama competition, the Bacardi Martini Grand Prix, the Marie-Brizard Challenge or the Swiss Calvados Competition.

1995

The first issue of BAR NEWS is published with a cover of 4 pages and 8 pages of content. In the same year, two more issues appeared, each with 20 and 24 pages respectively. For the first time, we announced the Grand Prix Havana Club for the Perisem company. BAR NEWS was then the official information organ of the Swiss Barkeeper Union for over 15 years. The Swiss Championships were also organised in the following 16 years.
