Over 5'000 visitors

Well-attended Swiss Coffee Festival 2020

In its second year of existence, the Swiss Coffee Festival once again attracted coffee lovers from all over Switzerland to Hall 622 in Zurich Oerlikon from 7 to 9 February 2020.
Around 5000 visitors attended the Swiss Coffee Festival.

On the two days of the exhibition, coffee roasting companies as well as coffee machine manufacturers and suppliers of training courses, water filter systems or accessories presented their products. Beverages were also presented, including coffee liqueurs, coldbrew drinks and drinks based on coffee cherries.

Coffee Talks, Cuppings and the Swiss Coffee Championships in four categories also took place. Coffee seems to inspire a very mixed audience. There were also some faces from the bar world.

"People are generally more interested in the things they consume. Be it beer, gin, whisky or coffee. Coffee is also very accessible and individual.

Michel Aeschbacher, Board Member

"We tried to focus on the gastronomy for this festival and you actually see more than last year," Michel Aeschbacher is pleased to say. As a board member of the Swiss Specialty Coffee Association, he organised the festival for the second time.

For many, coffee has become more than just a stimulant. Aeschbacher is convinced:

50 exhibitors and 5 000 visitors

The trained chef, who like many here discovered the coffee world for himself as a career changer, has the joy of the high visitor numbers written all over his face.

He only sees room for improvement in the number of participants in the Swiss Championships - even though Lukas Meier, a representative of the bar world, also competed in the Coffee in good Spirits category. Towards the end of the festival, the mood rises again.

The winners of the Swiss Coffee Championships are announced in four categories. In the categories Barista, Brewers Cup (filter coffee), Latte Art and Coffee in good Spirits, it was not only the Swiss Champion title that was at stake, but also the ticket to the World Championship.

The World Cup in the Brewers Cup and Barista category will take place from 4 to 7 May 2020 in Melbourne, Australia.
