Yesterday afternoon, an event with zero alcohol content became extremely lively in Basel's bustling city center, as the trade magazine Bar News hosted the final of the 13th Swiss Nullpromille Trophy . The established competition took place on the premises of soho Basel.
A total of eleven finalists and one finalist from all parts of Switzerland were in the spotlight. Their aim was not only to impress the jury with their unique cocktail creations, but also to show together how diverse, complex and innovative the world of non-alcoholic cocktails has become. Just a trend? Not at all.
The 13th Swiss Nullpromille Trophy is proof of this sustainable development. "When we launched the competition 13 years ago, the bar scene was still skeptical and reserved. Today, the development of non-alcoholic cocktails is no longer questioned. A lot has happened at all levels - among producers, consumers and, of course, in the bar scene. Zero alcohol drinks are not an alternative, but an independent drinks category," organizer Michael Zotter is convinced.
More than 60 recipes. 2 categories. 2 winners.
Just how varied and creative the use of products and ingredients for non-alcoholic cocktails has become is shown by the large number of recipes submitted to Bar News. Over 60 specially created and anonymized recipes were evaluated in advance by a jury of experts.
At the final of the 13th Swiss Nullpromille Trophy in Basel, a four-member international jury tasted and evaluated six cocktails from each of the finalists in the "Fancy" and "Sparkling" categories. They were impressed by the presentations of the dedicated Swiss bar scene.
